Ughhh....

Well, my gung ho gym idea did not go well yesterday at all. I went to the Zumba class at 10a. My plan was to do some weights afterwards and get to my class at 6p. It didn't work out that way. I got very light-headed in the class and ended up with a migraine for the rest of the day. I don't know if it is because I didn't eat before I went, ended up dehydrated or if the hour long Zumba class is still just a bit much for me. Everytime I have gone to Zumba, I have ended up with a headache so that's not really a good sign. I might have to stick with the 30 minute classes for awhile *sigh and do the Zumba at home.

Anyone have any thoughts on why I would get headaches? I'm at a loss.

Ugh, that sucks. The only thing I can think of is dehydration?

That is interesting....I haven't done zumba or experienced this, but maybe there is something you could take before hand...like a couple of advil and 2 glasses of water or something....

good luck at the gym the rest of the week :)

Yikes! That is not good. Maybe it is a combo of lack of water and low blood sugar. That can make a nasty combo!

My Zumba class is from 9-10am & I usually eat a little something or I feel kinda weak when it's over. Typically, I finish my workout with a protein shake too & that helps out also.

Also, make sure you feel free to modify as needed. Some instructors keep it pretty high impact, but that doesn't mean that you have to. Our class is full of all different ages & levels & we all do as much as we can handle. Some modify the impact on their knees, others slow some steps down, others take more water breaks between songs. You have to find the right level for you. At home may work out better for you for now.

It could simply be a different type of breathing you're not quite used to yet--learning a new instrument like the flute or clarinet will do the same thing. Learning yoga will do the same.

Just a thought.

P.S. I really enjoy your blog. :) I listed it on mine. Hope that's okay.

Yuck, that happens to me sometimes after I work out too hard, but then again, I live with a constant migraine, so I cannot give any good advice. Hope it gets better!

I'm sorry to hear you ended up lightheaded. I know you aren't a breakfast eater but something light before the class might be the best way to go...and no coffee doesn't count!

I was getting tons of headaches not too long ago--right at the back getting worse towards my neck.

I think it was a combination of stress and being tensed up not only while I'm awake but also while sleeping. I started to take a natural sleeping aid and am feeling much better.
